What is a free-text meal plan?
In Almendra's free-text meal plan you type each meal by hand instead of picking foods from the database; calories and nutrients are not calculated.
Updated October 15, 2026
In a free-text meal plan you can type directly into each meal; you don’t need to look up foods in the databases.
The main difference of a free-text plan is how you enter the foods in the meals. When you create the plan, choose the Free text format in the Format step.
Things you should know:
-
You can write whatever you want: it’s completely free.
-
Write one food per line.
-
The plan’s calories and nutrients aren’t calculated.
-
You can include recipes (ingredients and instructions). We recommend reading How do I add recipes to a free-text meal plan?.
-
You can build it in the Table or Day by day view, copy and clear days, and have days off.
