How do I add an equivalent food?

Swap a food for its equivalent in an Almendra strict meal plan, and add equivalent food groups at the proportion you choose in a flexible plan.

If you’re on this page, you probably want to answer one of the following two questions:

1. How do I replace a food with an equivalent food?

2. How do I add a group of foods?

Here are the answers to both questions:

**1. How do I replace a food with an equivalent food?**If you’re in a strict meal plan, locate the food you want to replace. It doesn’t matter if you’re in daily or table view; the food is displayed the same way in both cases. Here’s the table view example:

Hover your cursor over the food name, and you’ll see buttons with arrows and a trash can appear to the right. Click on the arrow button, and the following window will appear:*Note: If the food does not have equivalents, a window will appear indicating that the food has no equivalents. In this case, the food “Strawberry” already had equivalents created.

This image shows that 100 grams of strawberry are equivalent to 75 grams of mango. It’s important to note that the only food in the equivalence list for “Strawberry” is “Mango.” In your case, you might have many more equivalent foods. Identify the food you want to replace “Strawberry” with (in this case, we only have the option of “Mango”) and click “Replace.” “Strawberry” will be replaced by “Mango” in that meal.

2. How to add a group of foods:

To add a group of foods, you need to be working on a flexible meal plan. Click the button in the red box in the image below:

A popup window will open where you can select the equivalence group and mark the foods you want to add to the meal plan.

In this case, we have selected the group “Meats, Fish, and Eggs: Low in Fat” and marked “Anchovy Fish” and “Chicken Liver” to be added to the meal plan as a group of options for the patient to choose from.
At the bottom of the popup window, you can change the proportion of the selected foods to be added. For this particular case, 100% means I will enter “2 units of Anchovy Fish” and “1 small unit of Chicken Liver.” If we had set it to 50%, it would be “1 unit of Anchovy Fish” and “1/2 small unit of Chicken Liver.”

Finally, click on the blue “Add equivalence group” button, and the selected equivalents will be immediately added to the group of foods within the meal in question.
